Boston-based Fasten, a ride-hailing startup looking to compete with the likes of Uber and Lyft, was hoping to get a big boost by being one of the only ride-hailing companies to serve riders at the South by Southwest festival and conference in Austin, Texas.
Instead, the company — along with other similar upstarts — stumbled under the harsh spotlight of SXSW, leading to anger on social media and negative headlines in the press.
