This challenge is being addressed in an on-demand economy that is booming. Nearly 50 million Americans now self-identify as independent professionals in some form or another. A recent report from the nonprofit Freelancers Union reported that 34 percent of the U.S. workforce is freelancing. Work Market’s own “2016 Corporate On-Demand Talent Report” found that 27 million people are engaged with enterprises in nontraditional work engagements.
