If this app, Pooper, is not a joke, it’s a very strange idea, one I doubt has legs. My initial reaction was that it had to be a joke. I don’t see Pooper flying, if you’ll forgive the mixed but appropriate metaphor.

Several media outlets have shown a healthy skepticism, with The Washington Post questioning whether Pooper is “some sort of ironic commentary on dog obsession and the sharing economy,” and Mashable calling it a “probably fake app.” And the company liberally pokes fun at itself with slogans such as “your dog’s poop in someone else’s hands,” and “poop with us.”But the company swears it’s for real.
